This newly published book pairs Marisa Culatto's 12 Untitled photographs with 12 haiku by Yuzo Ono written in response to the images. These works were originally commissioned by MOCA London as part of their 2020 WE (Web Exhibitions) program.
Marisa Culatto
Marisa Culatto spent a whole decade almost exclusively working with digital photography preoccupied with pushing – blurring – the boundaries of photography into the language and practice usually associated with other mediums – mostly painting.
Constraints, domesticity and daily rituals are at the centre of Culatto's practice with much of her work addressing contradictions, misperceptions and/or a degree of visual ambiguity. Recently her practice has turned to works on paper, working with ink, markers, watercolour - sometimes combined with photography.
Yuzo Ono
Yuzo Ono is a haiku poet and writer born and living in Japan. He has studied at the Royal College of Art in the UK, and is the trustee of the Haiku International Association.
